An Evening of Norwegian and Swedish Folk Tales – 6.30 – 8pm, 21st of October, London

An informal evening of live storytelling with folk tales from different parts of Norway and Sweden. You might meet the gorgeous Huldra, who lives beneath the ground, the small but powerful nisser or tomtar or perhaps something more sinister altogether, such as Näcken, the Mountain Troll or Titta Grå.

The storytelling session will be followed by a Q&A with the storytellers, refreshments and the chance to buy a signed copy of the brand new book of Norwegian Folk Tales, as well as the recently published Swedish Folk Tales.

Pay what you can: £5, £10 or, if you’re feeling generous, £15-£20

Suggested minimum donation: £7

40% of the MiWay ticket proceeds supports the Miller’s Way Project’s Cancer and Arthritis Clinic, offering free consultations to those who can’t usually access alternative healthcare.

Anna Maria Vilhelmina Hellberg Moberg

Anna Maria Vilhelmina Hellberg Moberg is a UK-based writer, storyteller, and journalist, originally from rural Värmland in western Sweden. As a storyteller, she tells folk & fairy tales, autobiographical & fictitious tales as Vilhelmina/AMV Hellberg Moberg. She writes, gives talks and tells stories in English, Swedish, Norwegian and Spanish.

Georgiana Keable
Georgiana Keable is a pioneer for the renaissance of storytelling and she likes adventures. She moved to a large, deserted farm in Norway in 2020 and leads the work for biodiversity and storytelling. She has taken thousands of teenagers up the Norwegian Pilgrims way and on botanical story adventures, prompting 12-year-olds to spontaneously hug trees and learn their names. In the remote Lofoten Islands, collecting stories by day and sleeping in a hammock, every stranger had a tale of connection with nature. Georgiana taught storytelling at Oslo University college for 20 years, founded ‘Fortellerhuset’ (The Storytelling House), the Norwegian Storytelling Festival and Storytelling Radio, and received Oslo’s Artists Prize for outstanding contribution to cultural life. Her prizewinning book ‘The Natural Storyteller’ was published by Hawthorn Press, who then commissioned ‘Fairytales, Families and Forests’ published in 2023. `Norwegian Folktales` published by The History Press is her third book.
