How Pat Got Her Five Cats – A Tale For Cat Lovers
Pat’s never wanted a cat…
Then, one day, she’s presented with a gift – a small, British Blue kitten. Pat’s surprised and bemused at first, but it doesn’t take the kitten long to win her over. The two of them live together very harmoniously, until Pat suddenly decides to make one more cat addition to the household. Two feline friends will be excellent company, for sure, but she’ll obviously never want more than two.
This is a wonderful, sweet, witty story. The author has written about all five of Pat’s cats with such humour and truth that I felt I had met all of them “purrsonally.” The illustrations are charming, as well. It’s a heart-warming tale and an excellent gift for cat lovers of all ages.

How Pat Met the Curry-Cat
After enjoying many years of happy co-existence with her five felines, Pat suddenly finds herself all alone one day. But life just isn’t the same without a cat… Feeling sad and lonely, Pat takes a trip to cheer herself up for her fiftieth birthday. While away on holiday, she meets the cat of her dreams, only to find he’s already got a loving home and a good family. What is Pat going to do now?
Boldly Into Darkness Go
Good friends go on an unexpected journey of discovery to Sweden at Midsummer, a young girl explores her love of the dark, a group celebrates an unusual anniversary and a woman is faced with past trauma attending her best friend’s funeral.
These twelve tales blend together the author’s Scandinavian heritage and love of Latin America, coupled with her years of London living. The overriding theme is love in all its guises, while touching upon the thornier issues of fear, jealousy, control, revenge and loneliness.
The anniversary edition, published in the summer of 2020, includes the original twelve stories, as well as six new tales, expanding on the themes of love and revenge.
The short story is notoriously difficult to master, many prize-winning novelists have tried and failed to conquer it, but in this collection AM Hellberg Moberg succeeds. Each story has a unique reward, whether it is in making you laugh out loud, think twice or just feel the pure emotion of her truthful coming of age stories.

Hug-Snow Days
Three elderly sisters live peacefully in a rambling, ramshackle house by a lake, surrounded by deep forest. Together with their five cats, they enjoy a quiet existence in the winter of their lives, but things haven’t always been this peaceful and harmonious. Over the years, the sisters have resorted to both spells and curses to keep intrepid strangers from their door. This winter tale of snowball fights, an ice-skating knight in shining armour and a bewitched attic, takes the reader into a magical world of feisty women who rescue themselves and aren’t scared to act their age and their shoe size.
Thank you for such a magical and entertaining book. It is great as a book for people beginning to learn English, for individuals who love happy endings and fairy tales. I honestly love it.

Swedish Folk Tales
Humorous tales, cautionary tales, tall tales, fairy tales, heroic tales – the depths of Swedish folklore hold all of the above and more besides. From cunning folk and helpful Tomtar, to sinister Näcken and the Stallos of Sami legend (with plenty of romance and derring-do in-between) this book covers centuries-worth of Sweden’s folk tales, telling stories that have never been translated into English before, as well as several oral tales published in writing for the first time.
Anna Maria has authored, co-authored and contributed to 20+ books, mostly focused on travel and food, working with Footprint Travel Guides, Michelin Green Guides, Berlitz, Dorling Kindersley, Summersdale and other international publishers.
Travel memoir
Wayward Wanderings a travel memoir
Lunch with a gun in Buenos Aires, Carnival with Sophia Loren in Tenerife, a cycling adventure near the North Korean border and an impromptu English teaching day in Burma are just some of the experiences recounted in this memoir of twenty-five travel tales, accompanied by the author’s own images. With journeys spanning three decades and over twenty countries, Anna Maria Espsäter takes the reader on multiple adventures across the globe from her first solo journey as a naïve, but intrepid, teenager visiting Wales in the mid-1980s to becoming a professional travel writer twenty years later and spending twelve years travelling the world in search of good stories (good food, good wine and wicked, unusual activities).
Wayward Wanderings
Since actual travel is limited these days, I’d like to recommend a book I’m enjoying while waiting – stories from the travels of lifelong woman traveller, Wayward Wanderings, by Anna Maria Espsäter. A collection of all the quaint, funny, weird, inspiring, slightly dangerous and sometimes frustrating situations one gets into while wandering the world.
