September Fiction Newsletter

Dear network,

summer here in the northern hemisphere seems to have come to an abrupt halt and autumn is already looming around the corner – it’s high time to share my fiction news with you, in other words.
This summer had a genuine “blink-and-you-miss-it factor”, I feel, perhaps because life has been so much altered this year, and even if things may now slowly be improving, life as we knew it remains elusive.

I, for one, have been suffering from a bit of “pandemic fatigue” this summer and I’m sure I’m not the only one hankering after those wonderful days of travel opportunities and general freedom! That said, thus far I have managed to stay in good health and I sincerely hope you all have too.

This is a strange time to live through and it’s certainly the strangest time I’ve ever tried to work creatively, so there’s no denying that I have been rather slack this summer in terms of productivity… But before you jump to the conclusion that this is a newsletter with no news, let me reassure you that is not the case.

The main news is that I have a new book out, How Pat Met the Curry-Cat, the sequel to my first work of fiction (How Pat Got Her Five Cats – A Tale for Cat Lovers), published as an illustrated hardback:
In fact, I’ve decided to do a special offer via my web shop and both books can be bought for the princely sum of £12.99 (they are individually priced at £7.99).

In How Pat Met the Curry-Cat, we’re reunited with Pat who, catless and all alone, is about to celebrate a milestone birthday (I can’t think why I decided to write about that…). The book is suitable for cat lovers of all ages and has a good sprinkling of Somerset scenery and curry spices. The beautiful illustrations are by Antonella Sands (, who also worked on my winter fairy-tale Hug-Snow Days (by the way, has any Scandinavian readers found the hidden puns in this book?).

Furthermore, there are still a few copies of my latest collection of short stories available from my website here:
Unfortunately, a few months ago, I discovered that there is an unauthorised Kindle version of the original 12 short stories and I have since tried in vain to have this removed by Amazon. Hopefully this will be resolved, but in the meantime, I’d urge you to only shop via my website and not via Amazon for the time being.

In further news, some of my books may soon be available from libraries in Sweden, much to my delight and two of them (How Pat Got Her Five Cats and Hug-Snow Days) are currently available from libraries in the UK.

Recent months have seen my books find new homes in Canada, Mexico, Spain, Sweden and the United States, as well as the UK!  Being read internationally is a great boost.
As always, I’d love to hear from you if you’ve read one of my books (maybe with “photographic evidence” as requested in my last newsletter), or even if you haven’t, feel free to get in touch to say hi.

Keep well and there will be more autumn news to follow.
